On summer days, going to a pond or river to fish is the perfect form of relaxation. However, if you would like to actually catch something at the same time, it is worth getting the right lure.
The basic division divides lures into natural and artificial. The former include the most popular ones, such as red worms (good for breams and perches) or white worms (in fact – fly larvae, a delicacy for roaches and carps). Other lures of this type are: corn, wheat or hemp grains.
The second category, artificial lures, includes, for example: rippers, i.e. artificial small fish which are eagerly hunted by predators, or twisters – imitating worms
Pellet is a new type of lure, which can be called a “cousin of natural lures”. This time, however, we are not dealing with any larvae or worms. It is created by combining several ingredients such as flours, rich in vitamins and minerals, which makes an exceptionally inviting dish for fish.
Since the “treat” is produced artificially (by man), it is given appropriate characteristics depending on the circumstances of fishing. For example, a chosen color that will attract the attention of fish, which is especially useful in clear water. An additional advantage is that this lure does not need to be prepared beforehand. It is ready to use right away and it keeps its freshness for a very long time (in contrast to other natural lures).
Pellets have a few variants of use. Because of its nutritional value it is simply an ideal meal for fish. Some people use this product to feed their little friends living in e.g. ponds.
Pellets are of course also suitable for fishing – that they are ideal as bait, we mentioned earlier. It is worth mentioning that it is so rarely used that fish still have not developed a defensive instinct against it. As a result, a bite on a pellet almost always ends in success.
Another method is to use pellets as part of the bait. This meal dissolves in water, creating an aromatic cloud under the surface, to which fish are attracted. It is enough to gently soak a few pieces of pellets, stick them together into one bigger lump and throw it into the water. After a moment we will see, how a small shoal of fish gathers around the bait
As we have established – fishing expedition with pellets is almost a half of success. But in the store we will hear the question: “what kind of pellet?”. And here we come to another distinction. There are two basic types – hard and soft.
The previously mentioned use of pellets as bait, which will fall to the bottom and release tempting aromas, is a property of the hard type. The soft type, on the other hand, is more suitable for use as part of the bait (simply scoop it onto the hook). Other considerations to take into account are:
